NBA昨公布年度防守第一隊與第二隊名單，防守第一隊包含年度防守球員馬刺里歐納德（票選總分242分），以及勇士卓雷蒙格林（229）、灰熊湯尼艾倫（207）、快艇狄安卓喬丹（187）與保羅（170），全由西區球員獲選。
年度防守第二隊有鵜鶘安東尼戴維斯（155）、公牛吉米巴特勒（132）、勇士波格特（102）、巫師沃爾（67）與馬刺鄧肯（64）。年度防守隊票選是由來自美國與加拿大的129位媒體記者或主播共同選出的結果。
本季平均拿下6.3分、8.1籃板及1.7火鍋的勇士中鋒波格特，成為年度防守隊票選「獲利」最多球員，因為在他合約規定，只要他入選年度防守隊，就可拿到190萬美元（約新台幣5830萬元）的額外獎金。
